Temporal activity in the winner action channel of Go and NoGo neurons during reward and punishment, in the same conditions as in Figure 5: red dashed line with no phasic activity of ChI (the activity of the ChI was artificially constrained at a constant basal level), blue solid line with phasic activity of ChI. The red dotted signals have lower peaks and higher dips; this means that the contribution of ChI is essential to move the striatal activities far from the established threshold (this threshold is shown with a green dot-and-dashed line) thus allowing greater changes in synaptic weights according to our specific Hebb rule.
