Let the center of the screen be the origin.
Let 0° be assigned in reference to the first eye fixated target ().
Let be an indicator for sequential eye fixations where .
Let be a counter variable where .
Step  1. Assign each subsequent eye fixated target a degree value (, where ) in reference to the clockwise direction
from .
Step  2. Increment for each sequential increase in (where ), then go to Step  4.
Step  3. Increment if the next value is , then continue to increment for each sequential decrease in (where ), then
go to Step  4.
Step  4. If , then the pattern is labeled circular.
