Ultrasound Grade of Liver Steatosis Is Independently Associated with the Risk of Metabolic Syndrome

The prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) as detected by ultrasound in relationship to the number of components of metabolic syndrome (final cohort, N=159 patients). There is a statistically significant trend of increase in proportion of NAFLD among patients with rising number of metabolic syndrome components, the Χ² test for trend, P<0.001.
