Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor Ameliorates Hepatic Steatosis Associated with Improvement of Autophagy in Diabetic Rats

Animal experiment scheme. Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly divided and fed the standard diet (normal control; n = 8) or high-fat diet (HFD; n = 16) for 6 weeks. After 5 weeks of feeding, HFD rats were intraperitoneally injected with low-dose streptozotocin (STZ; 30 mg/kg). One week later, HFD rats received treatment with either intraperitoneal G-CSF (n = 8; 200 μg/kg/day) or saline (n = 8; the same volume as G-CSF) for 5 consecutive days and were fed the standard diet until the end of experiment. Four weeks after the start of treatment, all rats were sacrificed for analysis.
