The velocity in the left figure (a) is not impacted by the PIV data, but the figure on the right includes assimilated PIV data (). The PIV data have a clear impact on the simulation and allow it to capture physics that may not be modeled correctly without the PIV data. For example, the simulation does not capture the effects of the mitral valve.
