An example of a raw image is shown. The extracted binary cross sections after preprocessing are highlighted in green and the allocated nodes are shown as black dots. Each cross section will have nodes, 6 shape factors, and shape profiles. Many cross sections in the cortex are not of actual nephrons but rather of the interstitial tissue between them. The glomeruli are also highly segmented.
