PDF estimations of values for one subject. One minute each of EEG from waking (black), sleep stage 2 (blue), and sleep stage 3 (green) from a single subject was analyzed for   values and the PDF estimated and plotted for each of (a) = 0.004 sec; (b) = 0.04 sec; (c) = 0.4 sec; (d) = 4 sec. : frequency of values. Note the characteristic amplitude fluctuations at all scales for the largest magnitude values.
