A typical ultrasonic backscatter signal from a female infant born at 29 weeks of gestation at 5.0 MHz frequency. The delay (t_d) and duration (t_w) of signals of interest (SOI) varies for AIB and SCS. For the SOI₁ of AIB, t_d1 = 4 μs and t_w1 = 2 μs at 3.5 MHz, 1.4 μs at 5.0 MHz, and 0.92 μs at 7.5 MHz. For the SOI₂ of SCS, t_d2 = 12.5 μs and t_w2 = 12 μs.
