Intelligent Buses in a Loop Service: Emergence of No-Boarding and Holding Strategies

Two buses with frequency detuning serving a loop of bus stops during a lull period learn the holding strategy by reinforcement learning. It is able to slightly improve the average waiting time, at the expense of slowing down the fast bus such that the average time spent on bus and average total travel time are increased.
