Theory and Applications of Cyber-Physical Systems

Description

The coming decades may see the large-scale deployment of networked cyber–physical systems (CPSs) to address global needs in areas such as energy, water, health care, and transportation. CPSs are intelligent systems that integrate control, communication, and computing. CPSs are also classical complex networks. Based on intelligent perception and cyber communication, CPSs can realize the deep integration and real-time interaction of calculation, communication, and control through the mutual influence of cyber computing and physical process. It can also detect and control the physical system in a safe, reliable, efficient, and real-time way, and realize self-governance and cooperation of the whole system.

The rapid development of CPS technology is promoting the development of key technologies and products in automobiles, aerospace, national defence, industrial automation, health/medical equipment, industrial control systems, intelligent transportation systems, and other fields and industries. However, the physical system and cyber system in CPSs are highly integrated. Meanwhile, their cyber acquisition, communication, calculation, and control are deeply coupled, which brings profound challenges to related fields, such as cyber attacks, high dimensional data disasters, communication network jam, etc.

This Special Issue aims to address and disseminate state-of-the-art research regarding applications of innovative solutions to achieve the integration of theory and applications of CPSs. We seek original papers with novel research contributions in all aspects of tools, models, and methods of relevance and impact in CPSs. Original research and review articles are welcome.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Basic architecture and model of CPSs
  • Information acquisition and processing of CPSs
  • Intelligent computing of CPSs, such as game theory, machine learning, statistical mechanics, etc.
  • Intelligent control theory and method of CPSs
  • Cyber integration transportation systems
  • Cyber-physical integration energy systems
  • CPSs and other application systems
