Filtering, Control, and Optimization of Distributed Networked Systems

Description

Filtering, control, and optimization of systems has been widely studied for scientific and engineering problems in the past few decades, typically for distributed networked systems applied in various research areas. Distributed networked systems appear in wireless sensor networks, multi-agent systems, industrial networked systems, etc. It is well known that as modern systems become more and more complex, the distributed manner is considered as a common method is advantageous compared to the centralized approaches from filtering, control, and optimization perspectives. A distributed networked system with multiple dynamical nodes is particularly involved in limited sensing, communicating, and computing.

However, in reality, the applications are limited in communication bandwidth usages, computational cost, and sensing/actuation frequencies, etc. Even though large numbers of techniques and algorithms have emerged in recent years including event-triggered approaches, network consensus, multi-source data fusion and the like, developing efficient and applicable new approaches towards practical applications are also imperative and challenging for different environments such as civil aviation systems, unmanned aerial, land, and surface or underwater vehicle systems, industrial applications, medical systems, etc.

The objective of this Special Issue is to collect the latest high-quality original manuscripts within the research field of filtering, control, and optimization of distributed networked systems with different practical applications. Authors are invited to present new modelling, optimization and control techniques, algorithms, experimental tests, and applications. All original papers related to the theoretical methods and their applications for optimization and control of complex energy systems are welcome. Both original research and review articles are all encourage.

Potential topics include but are not limited to the following:

  • Distributed Kalman filtering, multi-sensor filtering
  • Consensus algorithms and applications
  • Advanced intelligent control techniques for distributed networked systems
  • Data fusion for distributed networked systems
  • Multi-agent cooperative filtering and control for different applications
  • Distributed formation and control
  • Fault-tolerant control for distributed networked systems
  • Optimization over complex networks for civil aviation applications
