Semithin epoxy transverse section of sural nerve stained with toluidine blue. A transverse epoxy resin section shows mild axonal loss. Occasionally, clusters of small axons, suggesting axonal regeneration, are seen (long arrows). Thinly myelinated fibers are relatively often present (asterisks).
