Bowel obstruction is not complete, and localized adhesion of the small bowel is thought to be due to repeated prolapse and incarceration over many years. (b) Abdominal X-ray image 1 hour after injection of contrast agent from the ileus tube. Contrast agent has reached the colon, the small bowel is not dilated, and bowel obstruction has improved.
