Proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) mRNA (a, b, c) and protein (d, e, f) expression after ESW treatment in primary bronchial fibroblasts of COPD patients (a, d), primary bronchial fibroblasts of control smokers (b, e), and bronchial epithelial cells (c, f). In bronchial epithelium (16HBE), PCNA increased at protein (f) level. T-test was used for comparative purposes, and values are reported in the graphs.
