Protective Role of Platelets in Myocardial Infarction and Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

Figure 1

Overview of the most important platelets selectins and integrins related to platelets and neutrophils adhesion in MI. PSGL-1 receptor binding is the first interaction between platelets and neutrophils. This interaction is stabilized by secondary adhesion interactions including directly binding GPIbα and indirectly binding αIIbβ3 of platelets with αMβ2 of neutrophils. The importance of interactions of ICAM-2 with αLβ2 and CD147 with αMβ2 in platelet-neutrophil adhesion is still poorly understood. PSGL1: P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1; ICAM2: intercellular adhesion molecule; MI: myocardial infarction. The server https://smart.servier.com was used to create a figure.
