Inhibition of Human Cervical Cancer Cell Growth by Ethanolic Extract of Boerhaavia diffusa Linn. (Punarnava) Root

Figure 8

BDF 5-induced apoptotic cell death in HeLa cells. Culture cells were treated with vehicle control (0.3% DMSO) or with BDF 5 at a concentration of 200 μg mL−1 for different time periods. After incubation the cells were lysed and the cellular proteins were separated by SDS-polyacrylamide gels and transferred onto PVDF membranes. Procaspase-9 (46 kDa) and procaspase-3 (32 kDa)-specific bands were detected by western blot. Immunoblot represents the observations from one single experiment repeated three times (a). The integrated optical densities (IOD) of caspase-9 and -3 proteins after normalization with β-actin (43 kDa) in each lane using GeneTools analysis software (Syngene) were demonstrated in (b) and (c), respectively. Each data point in the figure represents the mean ± SD of three separate experiments. Statistical difference compared to control. *P < .05, **P < .01.
