Induction of cytotoxicity and apoptosis by EEP in prostate cancer cells. The cells were incubated for 48 h with EEP at concentrations of 0–50 μg mL−1. Cytotoxic activity of EEP in prostate cancer cells: (a) LNCaP and (b) DU145. The percentage of cell deaths was measured by MTT cytotoxicity assay. EEP induced apoptosis in prostate cancer cells: (c) LNCaP and (d) DU145. Detection of apoptotic cell death by annexin V-FITC staining using flow cytometry. The values represent mean ± SD of three independent experiments performed in quadruplicate (n = 12). All differences are statistically significant in relation to control (P < .05).
