Ethanolic Extract of Propolis Augments TRAIL-Induced Apoptotic Death in Prostate Cancer Cells

Cytotoxic activity of TRAIL in combination with EEP in prostate cancer cells. The cells: (a) LNCaP and (b) DU145 were incubated for 48 h with TRAIL at the concentrations of 100 ng mL⁻¹ and with EEP at concentrations of 5–50 μg mL⁻¹. The cancer cells: (c) LNCaP and (d) DU145 were incubated for 48 h with TRAIL at concentrations of 50–200 ng mL⁻¹ and EEP at the concentration of 50 μg mL⁻¹. The percentage of cell deaths was measured by MTT cytotoxicity assay. The values represent mean ± SD of three independent experiments performed in quadruplicate (n = 12). All differences are statistically significant in relation to control (P < .05).
