Black Tea and Theaflavins Assist Healing of Indomethacin-Induced Gastric Ulceration in Mice by Antioxidative Action

Figure 4

Depletion of the total antioxidant status (TAS) in mice plasma due to indomethacin-induced acute gastric ulceration, and its prevention by BT, TF, and Omez. Ulceration in the mice was induced by indomethacin (18 mg/kg, p. o.). Treatment was carried out for 3 days with BT (40 mg/kg), TF (1 mg/kg), and Omez (3.0 mg/kg) and TAS was determined by spectrophotometry. The values are mean   S.E.M. of three independent experiments, each with 5 mice per group. , compared to normal group; , compared to ulcerated group; , compared to Omez-treatment.
