Each value represents the mean ± S.E.M. of 6–8 animals. Dexamethasone (Dex) administered orally, 0.5 mg/Kg was used as a reference anti-inflammatory (positive control). Basal = animals that received injection of saline in the scrotal pouch (Sal + Sal), Cg = carrageenan, Sal = 0.9% saline, DMSO = 16% dimethylsulfoxide, EEHg = ethanol extract of Helicteres gardneriana. ^a𝑃<0.05, compared to basal group. ^b𝑃<0.001, compared to the groups Cg + Sal and Cg + DMSO (one-way ANOVA, Tukey’s test).
