Antioxidant abilities of PA on carrageenan-induced mice. Liver tissues from carrageenan-treated mice were used to analyze the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione reductase (GRx), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx). (a) SOD activity increased significantly after treatment with indomethacin and PA (1.0 g/kg). (b) GRx activities in the liver tissues increased significantly with the treatment of indomethacin and PA (1.0 g/kg). (c) There are no significant inhibitions of GPx activities when treatment with any dose of PA, which was comparable to the treatment of indomethacin.
