Changes in rat airway resistance in response to histamine exposure. Rats in three groups were treated with aerosolized saline or increasing doses of histamine generated by an ultrasonic nebulizer. Airway resistance was measured by whole-body plethysmography and expressed as the index of percent increase in airway resistance as compared to the peak of the reaction with baseline.
