Terminalia catappa Exerts Antimetastatic Effects on Hepatocellular Carcinoma through Transcriptional Inhibition of Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 by Modulating NF-κB and AP-1 Activity

Figure 3

Effects of TCE on the activity and protein level of MMP-9 and the protein level of the endogenous inhibitor TIMP-1. (a) Huh7 cells were treated with TCE (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100  g/mL) for 24 h and then subjected to gelatin zymography to analyze the activity of MMP-9. (b) Huh7 cells were treated with TCE (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100  g/mL) for 24 h and then subjected to western blotting to analyze the protein levels of MMP-9 and TIMP-1. Quantitative results of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 protein levels which were adjusted with -actin protein level. The values represented the means SD of at least three independent experiments. * as compared with the vehicle group.
