Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Triterpene Saponins Isolated from Blue Cohosh (Caulophyllum thalictroides)

Effects of blue cohosh constituents on iNOS protein expression in LPS-treated microglial cell. BV2 microglial cells were treated by applying the blue cohosh with 100 ng/mL LPS for 24 h. The protein was extracted after 24 h of LPS treatment. iNOS protein levels were measured using western blot. Blue cohosh repressed the LPS-induced expression of iNOS protein in activated microglia. All values are expressed as mean ± S.E.M. from three independent experiments. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA for multiple comparison and Student-Newman-Keuls test as post hoc test. # 𝑃 < 0 . 0 0 1 in comparison with sham, * 𝑃 < 0 . 0 1 in comparison with LPS.
