Analysis of apoptosis-related modulators induced by tanshinone IIA. (a) Expression of cleaved caspase-3 and PARP was detected by Western blotting. (b) Keratinocytes were exposed to 10 μg/mL tanshinone IIA for 48 h in the presence (+) or absence (−) of 40 μM Ac-DEVD-CHO (a specific caspase-3 inhibitor). Caspase-3 was detected by immunocytochemistry. (c) Cleaved caspase-3 activity was compared in control versus tanshinone IIA-treated cells using the caspase-3 fluorogenic substrate DEVD-afc. .
