Baicalein Triggers Mitochondria-Mediated Apoptosis and Enhances the Antileukemic Effect of Vincristine in Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia CCRF-CEM Cells
Figure 4
The effects of baicalein on caspase-8 and Bid cleavage. (a) CCRF-CEM cells were treated with the indicated concentrations of baicalein for 24 hr. Western blot analysis was carried out to detect the cleaved forms of caspase 8 and Bid. The data correspond to a representative of three independent experiments with similar results. Bands were analyzed by ImageJ software and normalized to actin. The data are representative of three independent experiments showing similar results. Means ± SD of the three independent experiments is presented with bar graph on the right. *, compared with the untreated control group. **, compared with the untreated control group. (b) Cells pretreated with caspase 8 inhibitor, z-IETD-fmk, were incubated with baicalein for 24 h, after which the cell viability was determined by the MTT assay. The data are expressed as the mean ± SD from triplicate wells. Similar results were obtained in three independent experiments. *, compared with the baicalein only group.
