Electroacupuncture Reduces Cocaine-Induced Seizures and Mortality in Mice

Effects of EA at different frequencies (2 Hz, 50 Hz, and 100 Hz), needle insertion exerted at GV14 and GV20 acupoints, and sham EA (50 Hz; at bilateral SI11) on cocaine-induced seizures. Mice were administered with cocaine (75 mg/kg; i.p.) at 1 min after EA or needle insertion. Seizure severity was measured by the Itzhak five-stage scale [18]. Between-group comparisons for each group were performed by one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test (* ; ** ; n: the number of animals).
