The effects of pifithrin-α on the cytotoxic activity of Dox-O in A549 cells. (a) A549 cells were seeded into 6-well plate and treated with as indicated for 24 h. The cells were then lysed for qRT-PCR assays to determine the PUMA, PIG3, and BAX mRNA levels. (b) and (c) A549 cells were treated as indicated for 24 h and subjected to flow cytometry (b) or Hoechst staining (c) to determine percentages of apoptotic cells.
