Curcumin Protects Neuron against Cerebral Ischemia-Induced Inflammation through Improving PPAR-Gamma Function

Figure 5

PPARγ was involved in the suppression of curcumin on COX-2 and iNOS expression in cerebral ischemia of rats. Rats were injected (i.p.) with curcumin and GW9662 for continuous 3 days. One hour after the last injections, the rats were subjected to MCAO for 2 h and reperfused for 24 h. And the cortex was isolated for western blot assay. (a) Western blot of COX-2 and iNOS. (b) Statistical of COX-2 expression. (c) Statistical of iNOS expression. Data were expressed as mean ± SD. Western blot images were representative of four independent experiments demonstrating similar results. * , ** versus sham-operated rats, ## versus MCAO rats, Δ , and ΔΔ versus curcumin-treated rats.
