In Vitro and In Vivo Anticancer Effects of Sterol Fraction from Red Algae Porphyra dentata

Effect of P. dentata methanolic crude extract (CE-1) and dichloromethane (DCM) crude extract (CE-2) as well as F1 (hexane), F2 (DCM), F3 (ethyl acetate), F4 (acetone), and F5 (methanol) fractions of CE-1 on the viability of tumor 4T1 cells. The 4T1 cells were incubated with DMEM containing DMSO (control), CE-1, CE-2, or indicated fractions for 48 h at indicated concentrations. The cells were subjected to MTT assays. The relative cell viability (%) was defined as 100 multiplied by the ratio of the OD490 value of the cells treated with sample over the OD490 value of the control cells. Data are expressed as mean ± S.D. ( ).
