Destruxin B Isolated from Entomopathogenic Fungus Metarhizium anisopliae Induces Apoptosis via a Bcl-2 Family-Dependent Mitochondrial Pathway in Human Nonsmall Cell Lung Cancer Cells

Figure 4

Bax plays a crucial role in destruxin-B-induced apoptosis. (a) A549 cells were untreated or treated with 20 μM destruxin B for 24 h, and the cells were then fixed with 4% paraformaldehyde and subjected to indirect immunofluorescence by using anti-Bax antibody (green color); DAPI (blue color) was used as a nuclear staining, and MitoTracker (red color) was used as a mitochondrial tracker. (b, c) The A549 and A549-shBax cells were treated with 0, 10, and 20 μM destruxin B for 72 h, (b) the cell morphology was observed under phase-contrast microscopy, and (c) the cytotoxicity of destruxin B was determined. versus control; versus control.
