Novel Bioactivity of Ellagic Acid in Inhibiting Human Platelet Activation
Inhibitory effects of ellagic acid on platelet aggregation in washed human platelets. (a) Chemical structure of ellagic acid. (b)–(d) Washed platelets ( cells/mL) were preincubated with 20–120 μM ellagic acid or 0.5% DMSO; this was followed by the addition of 1 μg/mL collagen (○), 1 M U46619 (▽), 60 M arachidonic acid (□), or 0.05 IU/mL thrombin (⋄) to trigger platelet aggregation and an ATP-release reaction ((c), upper tracings).
