Novel Bioactivity of Ellagic Acid in Inhibiting Human Platelet Activation
Figure 3
Influence of ellagic acid on protein kinase C (PKC) activation and platelet aggregation in activated platelets. Washed platelets were preincubated with 50 and 80 μM ellagic acid or 0.5% DMSO, followed by the addition of 1 μg/mL collagen or 150 nM PDBu to trigger ((a)-(b)) PKC activation (p47 phosphorylation) and (c) platelet aggregation, as described in the Materials and Methods. The data are presented as the means ± S.E.M. (). **, compared with the control (resting) group; # and ##, compared with the collagen-treated group. The profiles (c) show representative examples of 3 similar experiments.
