Involvement of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress in Capsaicin-Induced Apoptosis of Human Pancreatic Cancer Cells

Figure 2

Effects of capsaicin on cell cycle in PANC-1 and SW1990 cells. PANC-1 and SW1990 cells were treated with various concentrations of capsaicin (0, 150, 200, and 250 μmol/L for PANC-1 cells; 0, 100, 150, and 200 μmol/L for SW1990 cells) for 24 h. Distribution of treated cells in different phases of cell cycle was analyzed by PI staining followed by flow cytometry. (a) The cell cycle distribution graphs. The results shown are representative of three independent experiments. The ratio of cells in each phase (G0/G1, S, and G2/M) was calculated by using the ModFit software. (b) and (c) The comparison of cell cycle (G0/G1 and S plus G2/M phase) of capsaicin-treated groups and control group in PANC-1 (b) and SW1990 (c) cells. Data obtained from three separate experiments are expressed as mean ± SD and analyzed by one-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett’s test. and , compared with DMSO-treated cells.
