Synergistic Action of Flavonoids, Baicalein, and Daidzein in Estrogenic and Neuroprotective Effects: A Development of Potential Health Products and Therapeutic Drugs against Alzheimer’s Disease

Figure 2

Combination of baicalein and daidzein enhances the in vitro anti-Aβ aggregation activity. (a) Different concentrations of unaggregated Aβ proteins (1, 3, and 10 μM) were allowed to aggregate at 37°C for 3 days. Mixtures were measured by a fluorometric method using thioflavin binding assay. Besides, Aβ (10 μM) was incubated at 37°C from 1 to 5 days and subjected to same fluorometric method to show the time-dependent aggregation activity. (b) Baicalein (0.1, 1, 10 μM) or daidzein (0.5, 5, 50 μM) was premixed with Aβ (10 μM) protein before the aggregation at 37°C for 3 days to determine their anti-Aβ aggregation effect. (c) Baicalein and daidzein at 0.1 μM + 0.5 μM (upper panel) and 0.1 μM + 0.5 μM (lower panel) were combined together before the addition of Aβ protein for aggregation assay as in (b). Data are expressed as Basal, whereas reading of control without drug is set as 1, mean ± SEM, . *** .
