Gastrointestinal and Hepatotoxicity Assessment of an Anticancer Extract from Muricid Molluscs

Figure 5

Comparison of the severity and distribution of hepatic inflammatory infiltrates in control mice (black bars, ) and mice administered 0.125 mg/g (dark grey filled bars, ), 0.5 mg/g (light grey filled bars, ), and 1.0 mg/g (white bars, ) muricid extract on a daily basis. Values are the mean frequency of foci/20 fields of view at 200x magnification. Inflammation severity is graded as follows grade 1 (>5 ≤10); grade 2 (>10 ≤20); grade 3 (>20 ≤30), grade 4 (>30) lymphocytes/foci. The distribution of foci is categorised by acinous zone: zone 1, periportal (portal triad); zone 2, periportal centrilobular; zone 3, centrilobular (central vein).
