Moxibustion Activates Macrophage Autophagy and Protects Experimental Mice against Bacterial Infection

Autophagy is accelerated by moxibustion. Macrophages were collected from mice with or without moxibustion as indicated, fixed, and stained with anti-LC3 antibody, and LC3 staining was visualized by confocal fluorescence microscopy. Representative images (a) and the means of LC3 puncta/cell counted from 20 individual cells (b) are shown. . Macrophages were lysed and equal mixtures of whole cell extracts were detected by western blots with anti-LC3 and anti-actin antibodies (c).
