Icariin Prevents Amyloid Beta-Induced Apoptosis via the PI3K/Akt Pathway in PC-12 Cells

Figure 2

Protective effects of icariin on Aβ25–35-induced apoptosis in PC12 cells. (a) Proapoptotic effect of Aβ25–35. After treatment with the following concentrations of Aβ25–35, cell apoptosis was evaluated by Annexin V/PI staining: (A) 0 μM, (B) 10 μM, (C) 20 μM, (D) 30 μM, or (E) 40 μM. (b) Protective effect of icariin against Aβ25–35-induced apoptosis. After 1 h pretreatment with icariin (0, 2.5, 5, 10, or 20 μM), PC12 cells were treated with 20 μM Aβ25–35 for 24 h. Apoptosis was evaluated by Annexin V/PI staining. (A) Untreated control, (B) 20 μM Aβ25–35 only, (C) 2.5 μM icariin, (D) 5 μM icariin, (E) 10 μM icariin, and (F) 20 μM icariin. Apoptosis rates are shown in Supplementary Figure  1 (available online at http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2015/235265).
