Rhein Elicits <i>In Vitro</i> Cytotoxicity in Primary Human Liver HL-7702 Cells by Inducing Apoptosis through Mitochondria-Mediated Pathway

<div>Total superoxide dismutase (SOD) was assessed in HL-7702 cells exposed to rhein for 12 h. Cells exposed for 12 h to rhein were used to analyze colorimetrically the SOD activity. The intracellular SOD activity significantly decreased after 50 <i>μ</i>M and 100 <i>μ</i>M rhein exposure.
