Quantitative Analysis of Apisin, a Major Protein Unique to Royal Jelly

Fractionation of an apisin-rich protein by isoelectric precipitation. Elution profiles of apisin in the supernatant and pellet of the RJ solution at pH 3.9 (a) and pH 4.6 to 4.8 (b) using size-exclusion gel chromatography. The methodological details are provided in Section 2. The changes in the purity (%) of apisin in the supernatant and pellet at pH 3.9 to 6.0 are shown in Table 1.
