Characterization of the Physiological Response following In Vivo Administration of Astragalus membranaceus

Figure 1

AM effect on white blood cell populations. Subjects 1, 2, or 3 (indicated by blue, red, and green lines, resp.) were administered vehicle or varying concentrations of AM extract (0.25, 0.75, and 1.5 mL extract/kg body weight). Blood draws were performed 0, 4, 8, 12, and 24 hours after administration to measure total cell population numbers. Cells measured include total white blood cells, neutrophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes. Peak fold changes relative to baseline ( hours) are indicated. Normal physiological ranges of the different cell populations are indicated by black bars.
