Effects of berberine on LPS-induced apoptosis in the HUVECs. The cells were pretreated with various concentrations of berberine for 24 h and then exposed to LPS for another 24 h. Apoptosis was determined in the cells that were subjected to different treatments with the DNA-binding 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU)/Hoechst 33442 double staining and Annexin V/propidium iodide (PI) double staining.
