Effects of valencene on the expression/production of proinflammatory cytokines in RAW 264.7 cells. RAW 264.7 macrophages were pretreated with valencene (10, 50, or 100 μM; 1 h) and then stimulated with LPS (1 μg/mL) for 24 h. (a) IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α mRNA levels were determined by RT-PCR and corresponding (b) protein secretion was determined by ELISA. (c) Effects of valencene on cell viability were assessed by XTT. HaCaT cells were treated with VAL for 24 h at the indicated concentration. Data were expressed as means ± SDs ( per experiment). versus LPS alone.
