A fragmentation pathway of benzophenone formed in MS, take 2,6,4′-trihydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone as an example: m/z 259 [M-H] is parent ion, the fragment ion at m/z 165 indicated a loss of 94 Da (C6H6O) based on the parent ion, and the fragment ion at m/z 121 indicated a loss of one CO2 molecule based on the fragment at m/z 165.
