Specimen preparation and unidirectional failure test. (a) and (b) show the division of the segment to produce the strip sample(s). (d) shows the rabbit’s left ICA which had formed the atherosclerosis. (c) and (e) show the process of unidirectional failure test. Strip sample of ICA was mounted between two clamps and stretched at a constant rate of elongation. The original length of the strip () was recorded. The rough sandpapers between the clamps were used to assure a no-slip surface.
