Cis model group showed condensed state of nuclei and high abundant TUNEL positive cells (arrows). Treatment with HP reduced TUNEL positive cells, nuclear fragmentation, and condensation. (b) Quantitative analysis of TUNEL positive cells per field. All the pictures were taken under 200x magnification. (c) Western blot was used to evaluate the protein expression of Bax, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, caspase 3, and caspase 7 among four groups and densitometric analysis was conducted for ratio of Bax/Bcl-2. Expression of Bcl-xL, caspase 3/cleaved caspase 3, and caspase 7/cleaved caspase 7 is presented as the relative ratio of each protein to actin. Data are expressed as mean ± SEM of three independent experiments.
