Vaccinium macrocarpon Aiton Extract Ameliorates Inflammation and Hyperalgesia through Oxidative Stress Inhibition in Experimental Acute Pancreatitis

The hydroethanolic extract of fruits of Vaccinium macrocarpon (HEVm) inhibits tumor necrosis factor- (TNF-) α, interleukin- (IL-) 1β, and IL-6 levels in pancreas and lung. Mice were submitted to injection of L-arginine or saline, treated with HEVm (50, 100, or 200 mg/kg), dexamethasone (Dexa; 5 mg/kg), or vehicle (saline), and euthanized after pancreatitis induction. TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 levels were measured in pancreas ((a), (c), and (e), resp.) and lung ((b), (d), and (f) resp.) tissues (-6). ^# or versus vehicle + saline and , , or versus L-arginine + vehicle.
