Topical Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Essential Oils of Alpinia calcarata Rosc., Its Main Constituents, and Possible Mechanism of Action

Figure 7

Effects of CIN and TPN on TPA-induced ear edema. Inhibition of TPA-induced ear edema by topical application of CIN (2.5, 0.5, and 0.1%) and TPN (10, 2, and 0.4%) was analyzed by measuring changes in ear thickness in millimeters (a), changes in ear weight in grams (b), and percentage inhibition of myeloperoxidase activity in tissue homogenates (c). N: normal; C: TPA-treated control group; CIN: 1,8-cineole; TPN: α-terpineol; IMN: indomethacin at 0.5 mg/ear. Symbols “” and “” represent a significant difference and between TPA treatment and compound-treated animals.
