Pentagalloyl Glucose- and Ethyl Gallate-Rich Extract from Maprang Seeds Induce Apoptosis in MCF-7 Breast Cancer Cells through Mitochondria-Mediated Pathway

Expression of apoptosis-related genes in MCF-7 cells after MPSE treatment as determined by RT-PCR. MCF-7 cells were treated with MPSE at 30 and 60 μg/mL for 48 h. The expression levels of Bcl-2 family genes and the corresponding ratios of Bax/Bcl-2 were assayed. MPSE upregulated the expression of Bax and downregulated the expression of Bcl-2. The expression of the genes was normalized against GAPDH and then compared to the control. The data are presented as the relative expression value of genes in the columns shown as ± SD of at least three replicates of three independent experiments.
