Berberine Suppressed Tumor Growth through Regulating Fatty Acid Metabolism and Triggering Cell Apoptosis via Targeting FABPs

Figure 3

Berberine altered the lipid contents and key lipid metabolic enzymes of MGC803 cells. (a) Berberine treatment at 10, 20, and 40 μM for 24 h increased the level of TG of MGC803 cells. Berberine treatment at 10 and 20 μM for 24 h increased the level of T-CHO while 40 μM had no effects on the level of T-CHO of MGC803 cells. (b) Berberine treatment at 10, 20 and 40 μM for 24 h increased the level of TG while had no effects on the level of T-CHO in the supernatant of MGC803 cells. (c) Berberine treatment at 20 and 40 μM for 24 h suppressed the protein expression of key lipid metabolic enzymes FABP4, FABP5, and PPARα in MGC803 cells. (d) The quantification of protein expression of key lipid metabolic enzymes FABP4, FABP5, and PPARα in MGC803 cells. , , , , and ns means no statistical significance.
